Founded in January 2003, SAWITRI Theatre Group is one of Mississauga’s most dynamic Indo-Canadian cultural organizations. Led by visionary artists Jasmine Sawant and Shruti Shah, this award-winning, not-for-profit company amplifies South Asian stories that speak across borders, generations, and lived experiences. With more than 85 productions—including 20 full-length plays in English, Marathi, Gujarati, and Hindi—SAWITRI has built a body of work as diverse as the communities it serves. Each production, rooted in powerful storytelling, informs, entertains, and heals, using theatre as a bridge between cultures and conversations.
